The position is in the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park, located in the high desert of the Colorado Plateau. Elevation is 5100 feet. Camp Hosts work in the Interpretation and Visitor Services Division to manage a 27-unit campground. Remove receipt stubs each morning from vacating sites and conduct afternoon compliance checks. Provide information about fees and recreational opportunities for the park and surrounding area. Handle minor problems and work with Visitor Protection Rangers on all law enforcement situations. May be required to assist in staffing the visitor center. The position is 32 hrs a week (4 days) covering the weekend, Thurs - Sun. The campground host camp site length is 72 feet., and has water and sewer hook ups, but no power. Hosts need to provide their own solar panels or generator for electricity. Couples are preferred, but not necessary. Most of our hosts return year after year, this is an opportunity not to miss.

March 1, 2008 through November 30, 2008. Fall River Lake, Dam site East, Fall River, Kansas. Dam site East is a small campground with 21 campsites and 1 group campsite. Volunteer will be provided with a full service site including a storage shed. The camp host will have 2 major duties: visitor assistance and facility maintenance. As an important part of the lakes visitor assistance program the volunteer will welcome all visitors and provide fee, rule and regulation, and other general information. The volunteer will monitor park activities and will contact the park ranger if a problem is observed. Facility maintenance will include cleaning the toilet / shower building in the park and insuring that supplies are kept stocked in this facility. Other duties will include roadside litter pickup, cleaning of fire rings, and watering and maintaining flowerbeds. Volunteers will be provided with all required administrative supplies, radios, cleaning supplies, and other tools. Volunteer periods for a shorter length of time than shown above will be considered although 60 days is considered a minimum.

Location: Burro Creek Recreation Site
Duties: This position will involve any or all of the following or similar duties: Greet visitors and provide information services - use of facilities, payment of fees, campground regulations, local recreational activities, maps and brochures, etc. Perform light maintenance and other duties such as pruning trees and brush, landscaping, painting, and installing or repairing signs. Inspect facilities and check for compliance with rules and regulations pertaining to parking, fee payment, campfires, noise levels, sanitation and safety. Bring problems or possible violations to the attention of visitors and supervisor. Collect and record visitor use data. Applicants should be available for two to three months minimum. Campground hosts are provided with water and sewer hookups.
Qualifications: Ability to easily meet and deal with the public so useful information is passed along to visitors and a positive image is presented for BLM recreational facilities. Must feel comfortable working independently, be able to read and interpret maps. Should know basic mapping skills, be in good physical condition, and able to perform outdoor recreation management tasks as listed above using basic hand tools such as shovel, rake, loppers, pitchfork, saw, drill and hand tools. Training provided as needed.

Horse Enthusiasts, this is for you. Host needed for the new White cedar Horse Camp located in the beautiful Walker Creek Valley area of Bland Co., VA. This is a rare opportunity to be a host and bring your horse that you rode in on. With over 50 miles of horse trails and Forest Service roads to traverse, White Cedar Horse Camp is an ideal place to spend your summer. Nearby communities include Wytheville, Bland, Dublin and Pearisburg. A small country store is only minutes from the camp.
Duties include minor site/trash cleanup, visitor information, cleaning the toilets, and general trail condition surveys. No electric or phone available at this time. Two Restrooms (pit toilets) are provided on site. Propane, potable water, and on site septic tank is provided. Must be on site Friday mornings to Monday afternoons. Work most weekends. One month minimum required. Housing and/or stipend is not provided.

Coleman Lake Campground is a hidden treasure within the Talladega Mountains. This camp ground has 39 sites with water and electricity hookups. Modern bathhouses offer hot showers and flush toilets. The area offers fishing, swimming, hiking, picnic area and access to the Pinhoti National Recreation Trail.
Camp host sites offer full hookups. Duties required would be help to clean bathrooms, help with trash collection and mowing of sites when needed.
Weekly subsistence is available. Host(s) needed for May thru October 1.

On 425,000 acres of public land within Douglas County, Oregon, volunteers to ho st in campgrounds, maintain trails, reclaim mined lands, construct fence, paint buildings, and assist with in-office tasks such as data input. We attempt to find a place for all volunteers that contact us with an expression of interest. We also host interns and crews through such programs as Apprenticeships in Science and Engineering (ASE), Resource Apprentice Program for Students (RAPS), U.S. Dept. of Interior Minority Intern Program, Northwest Youth Corps, Oregon Youth Conservation Corps, and other partnerships. National Public Lands Day is an annual event in September which attracts a large number of volunteers for various projects.

Situated on the United States-Mexico Border, Amistad NRA is known primarily for excellent year round, water-based recreation including: boating, fishing, swimming, scuba diving and water-skiing. Amistad NRA also provides opportunities for picnicking, camping and hunting. The reservoir, at the confluence of the Rio Grande, Devils and Pecos rivers, was created by Amistad Dam in 1969. In addition to excellent recreation, this area is rich in archeology and rock art, and contains a wide variety of plant and animal life.
Amistad National Recreation Area has 4 campgrounds that require hosts, however only one has full hookups (for the host only) and it is quickly filled. The other 3 have sewer only (for the host) and are great for campers with solar panels. We prefer long-term commitments for these positions. The term can be October-May continuous, or we can break it up into two 4 month positions being,Oct-Nov-Dec-Jan and Feb-March-April-May.

Volunteers with good communication skills that enjoy meeting people are needed from Apr. 1 - Oct. 31, 2007. The Camp hosts will meet and greet park visitors, provide information, open and close gates, check campers in, assist campers, provide a watchful eye, and perform some light maintenance. Schedule will be min 20 hours per week and include weekends. In exchange for their services, park hosts will be provided a free campsite with water, sewer, and electric (30 amp) hookups. Host Responsibilities
The host's primary responsibility is to provide information and assistance to the public and to maintain campground facilities. Hosts may also be asked to assist with special projects related to the campground and/or other recreation facilities.
Specific Duties:
.Provide information regarding area recreational opportunities, rules and regulations, and resource management practices.
.Identify inappropriate behaviors and report to Law Enforcement or recreation staff.
.Clean toilets and stock with paper daily throughout the campground and nearby recreation sites.
.Collect loose trash from fire pits and throughout the campground.
.Mow, weed eat and perform other grounds maintenance needs as requested.
.Bundle, stack and provide firewood for campers to purchase.
.Report any necessary repair needs to recreation staff.
.Assist with other projects as assigned.
Host Benefits:
The BLM reimburses the camp host $15 per day. The host site includes full hookup i.e. electricity, septic, and phone AND unlimited world class trout fishing out your back door.

Facilities: Campsites, restrooms, parking area, drinking water, picnic area, and group use area.
Location/Access: Just off State Hwy 84 approximately 30 miles northeast of Ennis and 30 miles southwest of Bozeman.
Fees: Camping fee for visitors is $8/night per vehicle, $5/additional vehicle up to 3 vehicles maximu m per site - from May 1 through December 1.
Red Mountain Campground and Lower Madison Recreation Area is located in southwest Montana about 30 miles from Ennis and Bozeman. The recreation area includes public land along an 8-mile stretch of the Madison River. The BLM-managed lands run from the northern boundary of the Bear Trap Canyon Wilderness to Black's Ford Fishing Access or Gallatin/Madison county line. We manage 15 dispersed/designated campsites, two developed and heavily used boat launches, one campground, one day use area, and one wilderness trailhead. All recreation facilities are adjacent to the Madison River and provide good access for anglers and floaters.

Become a host in a Forest Service Campground along the Trinity Scenic Byway (hwy299) near the town of Willow Creek, Ca. 2 positions available in smaller type campgrounds. Some hook-ups available. Willow Creek is a small, full service community located along the Wild & Scenic Trinity River. There are numerous Recreation opportunities including rafting, fishing, golfing, hunting and wildlife watching. Campgrounds receive moderate use throughout the season. Both are located within 5 miles of Willow Creek. Summer temperatures average mid 80's to low 100's.

Camp Host - The Camp Host will have duties in visitor assistance and facility maintenance. Campground surveillance will be primarily on the weekends (Friday night, Saturday day/night, Sunday day). A register of camper occupancies dates and tag numbers will be recorded by the Camp Host(s) and given to the Rangers on a weekly basis. Camp Host(s) duties will also include maintaining fee envelope boxes with proper material, answering the publics questions, and handing out informative material such as maps when requested by the public. The Camp Host(s) will be responsible for the mowing and weed eating around trees in French Creek Cove campground. Some other light maintenance duties may be assigned, such as painting, fixing site markers, watering flowerbeds and litter pick-up. All required supplies and tools will be provided by the Lake Office to complete the assigned jobs. The Camp Host(s) is required to provide 20 hours per week service in exchange for a free campsite with full hookups. Positions are for a 6 week rotation bu t are negotiable. Camp Host(s) needed for March 1 2007. - Novembver 15th, 2007 time frame.

The Oklahoma Ranger District on the Ouachita National Forest, encompasses more than 200,000 acres of the state's most divers and interesting terrain, including the Winding Stair Mountain National Recreation Area (NRA). A wide range of recreation opportunities abound here, including camping, hiking, fishing, hunting, horseback riding, and hang-gliding.
Winding Stair Campground comes alive in the spring and fall, especially during the fall foliage season. The campground is located on the Talimena Scenic Drive within the beautiful Ouachita Mountains, and has 23 non-electric sites, a restroom with solar powered lights and solar heated showers.
Host duties include monitoring and reporting unlawful or unsafe behavior, light custodial duties, and serve as an ambassador to Forest visitors. Hosts are not asked to collect or handle money. The Camp host is provided with an RV site with water and sewer hookups (electric is not available) for working 5 days, 40 hours a week.

Volunteer Park host positions are located at Hyatt Lake Recreation site at 5,200 feet elevation in the scenic Cascade Mountains of Southern Oregon. This site is located within Cascade Siskiyou National Monument. More specific site information can be accessed at our recreation site homepage at www.or.blm.gov/csnm/Hyatt_Lake.htm Camp Host position is in support of Bureau of Land Management (BLM) objectives and policies at Hyatt Lake Recreation Complex. Incumbent will support the BLM's role, objectives and policies in providing outdoor recreation at Hyatt Lake.
Host duties include manning entrance station, providing information to public and possibly in the form of interpretive activities to inform and educate the public on natural resources and recreational opportunities. Another duty will be to inform public of rules and regulations with the ultimate goal of voluntary compliance.
Volunteer duties start in early May and can last until mid October. Duties will be five days a week with duties needed especially on weekends and holidays when visitation is highest. Incumbent will be expected to monitor restroom and facilities for security, cleanliness and safety hazards and expected to restock toilet paper and other products when employees are not available and/or during evening hours.
Cleaning of restrooms, light maintenance and trash pickup is required. Incumbent will be provided with a campsite with electricity, water and access to showers and laundry facilities. A stipend contingent on duties performed is supplied to offset volunteer expenses. Volunteers are required to pass a background check an d will be accepted upon successful completion. Ability to communicate and interact with others in a friendly, helpful manner is a must in this highly visible position.

Camp Host - Hosts will be stationed at Oak Bottom Campground, the only campground located on the shores of Whiskeytown Lake. The campground contains 102 sites. Host will provide information to visitors on recreational opportunities, park fees and regulations, provide maps and brochures. Hosts will perform simple maintenance in the area by doing limited campground and picnic area maintenance including litter pickup throughout the campground, picnic area and swim beach. Popular activities in the area include swimming, boating, fishing and hiking. Small stores are located at the campground and marina carrying basic supplies. Hosts will be provided and RV site with hookups. Whiskeytown is looking for volunteer(s) willing to work and live at Oak Bottom from May through September.
